The mission of GoochlandCares is to provide health care and basic human services to Goochland residents in need.
One way they fulfill this mission is with their Food Pantry. Individuals that qualify can get healthful foods and personal items for their families at the pantry.
Grace Church collects and contributes non-perishable food to the GoochlandCares Food Pantry the 4th Sunday of every month. In addition, Grace has 4 to 6 church members who stock the food pantry every 4th and 5th Tuesday of each month.
Fresh produce from the church's vegetable garden is donated to the Food Pantry.

According to the USDA, more than 12 million children live in "food insecure" homes. That literally means that these families cannot provide enough food for every member to live a healthful life, especially on the weekends.
Grace Church, along with Ragland Memorial Baptist Church, addresses this issue in the Goochland community by purchasing, packaging, and delivering weekend brown bag meals for identified students at Goochland Middle School.
We have a team that provided 840 bags in 2019! Team members spend approximately one to two hours each Friday preparing and delivering the bags. We are hopeful during this time of COVID that we will be able to resume this ministry soon.
If you are interested in volunteering for this important ministry, email the office at gracechurch2955@gmail.com so you can get connected.
The Goochland Christmas Mother Program is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide food, clothing, toys, books, and other essential items to Goochland County families that qualify.
Every Chirstmas and Easter, Grace Church sponsors a family identified through the Goochland Christmas Mother program to ensure that the sponsored family experiences a meaningful Christmas and Easter.

Transforming Lives, Restoring Dignity
CARITAS (Congregations Around Richmond To Assure Shelter) was established to help provide effective and permanent solutions to our most vulnerable neighbors dealing with the cycle of homelessness and addiction.
According to their website:
CARITAS is Richmond’s largest emergency shelter, sheltering up to 110 people per night, and over 1,000 people annually. We provide more than 90% of the shelter beds available to single women. The hard work of 15,000 volunteers and 155 host congregations creates a safe and hospitable place for our most vulnerable citizens.
St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church in Goochland hosts Caritas for one week each year. Grace members volunteer one night of the week to provide the food, prepare the meal, and provide hospitality to the Caritas’ guests.

For many years, members of Grace Church have supported the YMCA Bright Beginnings Back Pack program by volunteering and donating supplies so children in Goochland can start the school year confidently.
The backpacks are blessed before they are sent to the YMCA. The Grace community knows that if a child starts the school year with all the supplies they need, it can help put a child on a path to success.
Grace was proud to provide this August 20 filled backpacks for the 2020/2021 school year.
Hosted by the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life events occur across the country to support and celebrate cancer survivors and caregivers.
Each Relay for Life has special events and activities. Relay for LIfe in Goochland occurs each June at the Goochland High School. For many years, Grace Church has created a team to participate in this very important event.
