Dear Grace Church Member,
In our fall newsletter, I reflected on the image of the daffodil bulb. As we approach the season of planting bulbs for spring, I have spent a lot of time considering what we can learn from this simple act of faith.
From something as humble as a bulb, we place our hopes in the future. We put time and effort into making the glory of spring worth the wait. We trust that beauty will once again arise out of darkness.
Isn’t that a perfect description of what our faith is all about, especially in times like these? It’s a reminder that God is still at work, cultivating our hearts for a future we cannot see just yet.
What might this time of growth look like for each of us? What are we nurturing in our lives, in our church, and in our community? What are we planting for the future? In 5 years, we will celebrate our 150th anniversary. What a perfect milestone for us to look to. Because faith is not just about who we are today. It’s about who we will be tomorrow for the generations to come.
Together, with your commitment of time and financial support, we can cultivate a sustainable and vibrant church community. That future will take our faithful dedication to recommit and reconnect in the months ahead. Through a strong stewardship campaign, we will reinvigorate:
- Worship opportunities
- Spiritual formation for all ages
- Outreach to our Goochland neighbors
- Church leadership
- Membership growth
It’s time to get back to believing in our future. It’s time to get back to building Grace Church into exactly what God intended…a place of radical welcome and hospitality, a place of love and compassion, a place filled with beauty.
I want to encourage you to keep your hearts open in the months ahead. Between now and November 7th, please prayerfully consider your pledge. Spring will come and, in the meantime, we will keep nurturing the ground beneath us so that it will be strong and ready to support the plans God has in store for Grace Church.
Grace and Peace,
